Since they’re asking, let’s tell them

The Alberta government has an on-line survey asking people about the next provincial budget available now.

This creates an opportunity for those concerned about housing security to provide input.

The survey is a little awkward in places and forces respondents to make decisions that may not reflect your views accurately-- for example, while ranking importance of a number of issues there is no option to say something has equal importance.

But there are several places in the survey where it is possible to use a comment box to write in your view that investment in non-market housing is a high priority for you. Other comments such as the need for higher income support payments, home care, and supports for people who are homeless can also be added in these boxes.

Overall it seems like the survey is structured to get answers that will support the government saying people are most concerned about paying down debt and lowering taxes, but by completing it carefully using the comment opportunities it is possible to give them a different perspective.
